Jake is an experienced investigator with a background in both law enforcement and public sector misconduct investigations. He has conducted workplace investigations since 2016 including while working at the Director level within the NSW Department of Education’s Professional and Ethical Standards Unit. Jake has led a team of investigators and principal investigators conducting investigations into serious and complex allegations of employee misconduct including child protection matters, fraud and corrupt conduct.

Jake’s investigation experience includes allegations relating to reportable conduct; conflicts of interest; failure to maintain transparent recruitment and procurement practices; misuse of funds; bullying and harassment; discrimination, and maladministration.

Previously Jake was a Detective within the NSW Police Force from 2008 and attained the rank of Detective Senior Constable. Jake led investigations of diverse criminal allegations and prepared reports, and evidence briefs for the prosecution.

He has experience in making evidence-based findings of misconduct and recommending appropriate disciplinary and remedial actions consistent with relevant policy and legislation. He is familiar with requirements imposed by agencies such as the NSW Ombudsman, NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian and NSW Independent Commission against corruption (ICAC) and has managed politically sensitive investigations and Public Interest Disclosures (PIDs) through coordination with law enforcement, unions, and oversight bodies.

  • Certificate IV in Government Investigations
  • Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Police Investigations)
  • Associate degree in Policing Practice
