WEIR sponsors Daryl Harding in his run of “The Walk” to raise funds for Tallebudgera family

Weir Consulting (National) (WEIR) is committed to giving back to great causes in the community and close to the hearts of its Directors.  We wanted to help out a tiny champ and his family with a donation sponsorship of Iron Man Daryl Harding’s awareness run for 7 year old Ayden Russell, who has been recently diagnosed and is undergoing treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. WEIR has thrown its support behind Ayden and the Russell family, sponsoring Daryl’s dedication run with a contribution to the fundraiser of $7,500.

A group of parents set up a fundraiser called “The Walk” encouraging classmates, friends, family and the local community to rally together and walk 100km from Tallebudgera State School to Brisbane. A number of
checkpoints have been set up along the way to segment the walk with participants encouraged to join us by walking just one, or a few segments.

Daryl has taken this one step further and has vowed to run the entire 100km to raise money for the family and also raise awareness of the charities that have helped the Russell family along the way including Leukaemia Foundation, Red Kite, Red Cross, Brisbane Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald house.

Event organisers for “The Walk” said “Daryl is already a champion in our eyes! The community support for Ayden has been amazing. We are so appreciative of the very generous donation that Weir Consulting has put
forward in support of Daryl’s 100km run!”

Fiona Luke spoke on behalf of the Russell family – “We are truly overwhelmed with this support from Daryl, and the VERY generous sponsorship from Weir Consulting. It’s a long journey ahead for Ayden, but the support people have shown us through messages and fundraisers like this has been absolutely incredible. We can’t thank you enough.”
